concord grape

A superfruit like no other grape on earth.

So why do we call the Concord grape a superfruit? Isn't it just like any other grape?

Actually, the Concord grape is far from ordinary. This little purple fruit packs a powerful punch and its juice is unrivaled for its great taste and health benefits. 100% grape juice made from Concord grapes is not only delicious, but it is loaded with antioxidant power, and it may help protect your health in a variety of ways.

Here's where it gets a little technical. Concord grapes contain an abundance of natural plant nutrients called polyphenols and, in particular, a subgroup of polyphenols called flavonoids. Welch's Grape Juice made from Concord grapes contains a high concentration of these plant nutrients (much like red wine), which act not only as powerful antioxidants to help protect your cells from those pesky free radicals, but also in other ways that help protect your health.

For example, research suggests that 100% grape juice made from Concord grapes helps promote the flexibility of your arteries - which helps improve circulation and allows for greater blood flow when you need it. 1,2,3 This contributes to healthy blood pressure.

It's important to remember that many purple grape juices aren't made from Concord grapes, which means they won't have the same plant nutrients and may have less natural antioxidant power. Welch's 100% Grape Juice is always made from Concord grapes (our own in fact) - making it an antioxidant superjuice - you could call it The Original Superjuice™, it's been around so long.

Expert dietitian David Grotto answers the question: Why Should I Eat Grapes?

Dietitian David Grotto Grapes are included in his book, 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life. Of course, we're not saying that grapes or grape juice could literally save your life, but Concord grapes are abundant in protective polyphenol antioxidants, which appear to work hard to protect healthy cells from the damaging effects of unstable molecules called free radicals.
